I like this song.

Little Boxes- Walk Off the Earth

I love basically everything from these guys.
This song makes my heart sing.
And it's all made of boxes.
Genius.

DIY: Flowy Tank

My husband has a huge collection of t-shirts.
I mean, 100s.
I already made him an extra large t-shirt quilt,
and there's still enough left to make 4 or 5 more.

Although,
I love stealing his shirts and wearing them around the house,
so I guess I don't mind too much.

Some are really soft,
really cool,
and never worn.

Like I said in my last DIY (seen here)
I always have the urge to cut clothes.
Today,
I decided to take one of my favorite Husband shirts and make a cute tank top out of it.

Luckily for you (maybe?)
I remembered the camera!
Here we go!

Items needed: t-shirt (perferably one 2-3 sizes too big), chalk (optional), scissors
1) flatten shirt on table or floor

2) Cut out neck line, sleeves, and bottom. (I chalked my lines before cutting.)
3) Cut off hem from the bottom of the shirt (we will use it later.)

4) Hang shirt on fingers, making sure the seams are on top. The front of the shirt facing away from you.
5) Grab both straps a few inches form the seams.

6) Using the hem line we cut off in step 3, tie a knot around the straps, on the back of the shirt.
7)Finish of with a bow! (You might want to glue with fabric glue, or stitch the bow directly onto the shirt.)

8) Finished product! Front. Husband was busy playing xbox, so you get the dirty mirror Myspace picture.
9) Back. After a hundred failed attempts to get the back of the shirt on my own, I had to call for assistance.

I really loved this shirt on it's own,
but it was entirely too big to wear out in public.
It's the super soft fabric and I'm excited to wear it more!
Although, it's a little too low and revealing in the back for my taste...
(note: don't cut so much off the sleeves.)
This will still be worn around the house, bike riding, around the pool, etc.

Have fun!

joys and things.

(Late Night Bike Rides are back! With hats! Pictured: Brother, Catron, Me, Husband)

It's Friday. Although, when you have a job that allows you to be off during the summer, all weeks seem like weekends. But, Husband still works and that's what keeps me on track. Here are some of my joys to start the weekend off!

1 waking up to Husband kissing me goodbye before he leaves for work 2 a clean house 3 scary movies- I love to hate them 4 Pottermore.com 5 re-reading my favorite books 6 Husband telling me he can tell I've lost weight- instantly makes me feel like I've lost 50 pounds 7 finally trying sushi- not so bad after all! 8 newly printed pictures 9 phone calls from family with news of unexpected road trip to visit 10 chalkboard paint- if I had it may way, I'd probably paint the entire house with it.

and now, a few random ramblings...

I've been playing Sims3 for...ever. I've loved the Sims games since they came out way back when. Of course, I'm a fan of the less raunchy types. I just love games that have story lines that I can control control. (Before Sims, it was The Game of Life. Still a favorite, actually played it last night!) Anyways, as of late, I seem to be playing Sims non-stop. I started with a girl, who reached her lifetime goal, got married, then died. Husband lived, remarried, had a baby, reached his lifetime goal, and died. New wife lived, reached her lifetime goal, died. Baby grew up, reached his lifetime goal, got married, had a baby. Now, I'm a couple generations into the game, I own half of Sim town, I have the coolest house, and I'm loaded.
aka
I'm a nerd.
What's worse is I now think of the world around me as a great big Sims game. For example, when your Sims is talking to someone and they get hurt or offended, a red minus sign appears above their head. When they are talking and enjoy the person, a blue plus sign appears. The other day, I was talking to the other house dwellers and I kept imagining a blue sign above my head when I was happy, and a red sign when I didn't like their conversation. Another example, throughout the game, wishes will appear on the screen. Most are opportunities that will help your career, friendships, etc. You can either accept or decline the wishes. Yesterday, I saw an ad at a restaurant for a political complaining meeting and I promptly "declined" the wish. I think I might have a problem.

We still don't have any wedding pictures printed. Not even a wedding album. Sort of depressing.

I had an amazing dream the other night. I think the best ones are ones that portray real life problems, and allow you to react in ways you normally wouldn't. In this particular dream, I was finally able to stand up to a former "bully, hater, loser, drama-maker, meanie, etc" and I tore into her. It was like my minds way of letting it all out. I woke up feeling like I won the lottery. I sure told her!

I wish fingernails grew colored. No more painting. No more keeping up. Perfect.

Within the next month, Husband and I could receive information that will change our lives. It's like trying to sleep on Christmas Eve, every single night. Patience is a weak point for me.

I'm having serious hair ADD. Usually, every 6 months I change it up. Cut it short, layers, highlights, etc. But, I've been growing out my hair for almost 2 years now and I'm fighting the urge. I love my long hair. I want it longer. I also loved my short hair. Oh, man. I need to change the subject.

Another urge I'm fighting is to put the Christmas tree up. Right now. I know, I know. Crazy, right? I just get so much joy from the Christmas season, I want it year round. The lights, music, trees, ornaments, books, cards...swoon. I asked Husband if I could, you can guess his response.
Hint: I have to wait.

As if this post hasn't convinced you I'm a complete nerd already and you should leave now, let's just talk about Pottermore, shall we? Oh, man. If you are a fan of Harry Potter, books and movies, then you have got to try it out. It an online experience that takes you through each chapter of the books, allowing you to become a part of the story. I  received my letter from Hogwarts, visited Diagon Alley, got all my school supplies, picked up an Owl, my wand chose me, and I was sorted into the Hufflepuff House. It's basically amazing. Filled with behind the scene information from author J.K. Rowling. So cool.

I better quit while I'm ahead, and maybe even post something cool before the weekend is over....

Happy Weekend!

Our Home: Living Room

Since this blog is read by friends and family, near and far, I decided to do a mini-series about our little abode. I have been meaning to show off our new place since we moved in January, but life hit us fast.
So, without further ado, welcome to our home! Come on in and sit a spell.

We live in a quaint little city in Northern Florida, just 5 minutes from the college and 20 minutes to the nearest "big" city. If we weren't just renting, I'd love to invest in some flowers, bushes, cute porch items, etc. One day!

This is the view when you first walk into the door and look to your right. (Minus Olive. She was really confused on why I kept walking around the house.) I struggled when it came to decorating this house. All the walls are concrete blocks. Everything you see on the walls are hanging from existing screws in the walls that the previous owners left. That was a challenge! And the carpet! Oh, the nasty redish/pink, stained, carpet!

Here is the view from the door, looking straight ahead. Both couches were given to us by awesome families (free!) and the quilt was made by my sweet Mamaw and me in 8th grade. The walk way leads into our dining room (that wasn't cleaned in time, so will be showcased next week!) And there's the carpet. Looking at these pictures, it turns out more red/ normal. But, I promise it's tacky. We tried our best to cover it with the rug!

This is the other side of the living room. Here is the dresser we made into an entertainment center, and a portion of the DVD's I color coded. The two doors you see lead to the guest rooms. One room is currently occupied by my brother and his friend, so you probably will never see that one broadcasted on this blog (I wouldn't do that to you!) The other is the storage/Husband's closet/puppy room. Again, probably won't be pictured. It's scary in there.

Here she is in all her glory! This is the view standing in the dining room. (And creeper, Olive.) It's not exactly ideal, but I think it's perfect for now!
The next few pictures are close ups of my favorite pieces in the living room.

An engagement picture, initials, our unity sand, and a candle.

One of my favorite signs and a ceramic hanging I made this past Christmas.

My trunk, favorite documentary books, engagement pictures, candles, and furbabies (they're my favorite in any room.)

Thanks for coming and I can't wait to show you the rest!

6 months left...

I have to be honest.
I haven't looked at these in a while.
Like, maybe not even once
since the last time I posted a recap...

But, it's almost halfway to my birthday
and I determined to cross these all off of my list!

1. Lose 10 pounds.
2. Run a marathon. (December 2! Color Run!)
3. Read the Bible completely through.
4. Have over 100 followers on my little blog. (Halfway there!)
5. Make awesomely cute cupcakes.   (check them out here)
6. Rid my self of sodas. Completely(Halfway scratched out...I had a moment of weakness)
7. Sew something completely from scratch. (I patched up my Toms, does that count?)
8. Take my vitamins and medicine, every single day!
9. Go camping for the first time.
10. Complete and blog 5 DIY's. (I've done 2!)
11. Make a conscious effort to think positively. Always. (I think it's going fairly well, considering the recent hard times. God is in control and that is something to rejoice about!)
12. Keep my fingernails and toenails prettyful. (So far, so good!)
13. Beat Husband in a round of Black Ops.
14. Read 2 "just for fun" novels. (Make that 3 and counting! Wooo, Hunger Games!)
15. Be on time (early)  for work. Every. Day. (When working, it's become a habit!)
16. Go on a picnic.
17. One date-night a week with Husband. (Even if it's dollar menu at McDonalds, I love dates with my handsome man!)
18. Try a new recipe once a month.
19. Host a homemade pizza party.
20. Incorporate one article of clothing into my wardrobe that I never thought I'd wear. (Does a top-knot bun count? Cute on some, not for me! It gave me a major headache.)
21. Become a coupon queen! (Ok, maybe a coupon princess,) I don't have time to be queen. (I don't think Hardee's coupons will suffice...)
22. Not cut my hair. (Trimmed, yes.) (It's so long, I'm in love and completely surprised I haven't cracked by now!)
23. Sunday's: No computer. All day. (I'm trying to make it a habit. A completely unplugged day.)
24Save and spend money wisely. (This has been a a hard learning process for me, especially between jobs. But, I'm getting better!)

Mini Messages

Dear Sunshine,
Could you turn it down a notch? I'd like to actually enjoy my time outside.

Dear Sims 3,
Because of you, I understand the bond between a guy and his games. I'm also glad I figured out how to get married without having to "woo hoo." It's totally possible.

Dear Summer,
I won't let the sun ruin our love for each other.

Dear Pool,
I need you. Stat.

Dear Mickey Mouse,
Can I please live with you and Minnie? I promise to feed and play with Pluto...

Our Weekend: A Video

(click the link or make it full screen for best quality)

I think it's safe to say we had the best time.
Despite the rain, mosquito bites, sun burns, and driving,
it was perfect.

Alright year 2, we are ready!

One Year

Oh man.
Today is THE day.
aka
The 11th of June.
aka
Our anniversary.
aka
The best day ever.

Throughout the week I'll be posting some videos and pictures from our amazing weekend.
But for now,
I'll leave you with some of my favorites memories,
not just since being married,
but from our whole together-ness.

Husband,
if you're reading this,
(which I know you are)
I love you.
Forever and ever.
Amen.

I miss MySpace...

I woke up this morning entirely earlier than I ever like to.
So, I channeled my inner super wife and vacuumed the house,
started the laundry,
cleaned the bathroom,
washed the dishes,
and trimmed the furbabies.

I still have to clean the guest room,
paint my nails,
shower,
and pack...

but for now,
I'm channeling my inner 16 year old.

Bringn' it back old school.
The MySpace way...

A. Age: 23 years old. I've waited my whole life for 23. I love it.

B. Bed size: Too small. Seriously. Husband and I have only been married a year and you'd think I'd be used to sharing a bed by now. You're wrong. I'm not used to it. I love him to pieces, but I'm also okay when he falls asleep in the living room playing Xbox. Sorry, I'm not sorry.

C. Chore that you hate: Dishes. Too bad they haven't invented a machine to wash them for you...

D. Dogs: are better than cats. Yes. I have 2 furbabies. Bailee, a 2 year old Maltese-Pomeranian, and Olive, a 1 year old Miniature Schnauzer. We're smitten.

E. Essential start to your day: I don't get out of bed until I've prayed. It's an automatic response. *alarm* "Dear God..."

F. Favorite color: Yellow, Mustard Yellow, and Red.

G. Gold or Silver:  White Gold. Either really.

H. Height: 5'short"

I. Instruments you play: Very little piano and guitar.

J. Job title: K4 Teacher.

K. Kids: Not yet, but I've got the names ready. All 4 of them. We want a big family, and to adopt.

L. Live: in Florida-wish-it-were-in-the-moutains.

M. Mother’s name: Dr. Wegmann. She's legit.

N. Nicknames: Beautiful, Mrs. Meaness, Larn.

O. Overnight hospital stays: Thankfully, I don't think there has been overnight stays. I've had to go to a hospital in the middle of the night...that may count.

P. Pet peeves: When I'm being misunderstood, but not given a chance to clear things up.

Q. Quote from a movie: It's totally cliche, but I don't care. I still melt when I watch "The Notebook"and this line (this scene!)  is so perfect: "
So it's not gonna be easy. It's gonna be really hard. We're gonna have to work at this every day, but I want to do that because I want you. I want all of you, for ever, you and me, every day. Will you do something for me, please? Just picture your life for me? 30 years from now, 40 years from now? What's it look like? If it's with him, go. Go! I lost you once, I think I can do it again. If I thought that's what you really wanted. But don't you take the easy way out."

R. Right or left handed: Right.

S. Siblings: One Brother aka built-in best friend. Since being married, I've gained 2 brother-in-loves and a sister-in-love.

U. Underwear: ...I'm not sure what kind of creepers read my blog...

V. Vegetable you hate: Brocolli. Hands down. Sick.

W. What makes you run late:  My Husband.

X. X-Rays you’ve had: Lungs, legs, head, etc. I'm awesome.

Y. Yummy food that you make: Uhm, does Mac-n-Cheese count?!

Z. Zoo animal: Giraffe. Duh. What kind of question is that?!

Well, that was slightly fun/I second guessed even posting this.
Awkward.

Enjoy your weekend!

I'm off to celebrate one whole year with Husband.
I think I'll keep him.

Why I'm the luckiest girl..

...I get to spend every day for the rest of my life with this guy...

Tomorrow evening, Husband and I will be starting our Anniversary Weekend Getaway.
I can't believe it's been a year already.
I have no idea where we going or what we will be doing.
Which makes it hard to pack.
Especially when boys don't understand our need to know what to wear.
"Just wear shorts and a shirt."
Seriously?
Not cute.
Oh, well.
I'll overpack.
But it'll be worth the surprise.

I can't wait to come back and share all the fun times.
In the mean time, here's a totallycoolawesome video of Husband.

I mean seriously, how lucky am I?

6.03.2012

Call me a thief...

...but I'm totally stealing someone's internet right now.
I only get full service if I'm sitting on the couch,
with the laptop at the very edge of the arm rest.
It's a balancing act.
But, totally worth it.

I've been thinking a lot lately.
About struggles.

There have been a few bumps recently,
but I always surface stronger after they are conquered.

Of course,
it helps to have my incredible Husband by my side.
To let me vent.
To rub my back
and remind me to breathe.
To tell me when I'm wrong
and warn me to not act in anger.

He's so much better than me.
And I love him for that.

Even beyond Husband, I've got Christ.
He gives me peace when I can't see,
strength when I want to give up,
guidance,
grace,
mercy,
love.

"Be still, and know that I am God."
Psalm 46:10

Don't panic.
Don't wallow.
Don't give up.
Don't get angry,
discouraged,
or lose heart.

Be still
and know.

He is God.

Joy Filled Friday

Before I begin, I would like to thank all my sweet encouragers out there! The sweet words you all left made things so much easier to deal with! As soon as I get to a computer (I'm on my phone now) and figure out how, you can bet I'll be turning off the option for "Anonymous" to comment. What's funny is they aren't truly anonymous, I know who they are. Anyways, thank you and let's move on, shall we?

It's funny to think of doing my "joys" when I'm going on day 3 of a nasty stomach bug, but I'm still alive and that's enough for me!

1 reading through my documentary book of The 101 Greatest Broadway Musicals. 2 finding nasea medicine that taste 500% better than Pepto Bismal 3 Tim Hawkins in concert tonight (if my health permits!) 4 painting nails 5 puppy hiccups 6 All things Calvin and Hobbes 7 surprise Anniversary weekend getaways (next week!) 8 babies! Congrats to all my blog friends who just had/are having/will have new additions to their families! So exciting! 9 vanilla scented candles 10 Sweeney Todd, White Christmas, Beauty and the Beast, and 27 Dresses. My feel good, sick day movie playlist. Random?

Hope you have great weekends!

P.S. This is the first time I've tried to publish a post from my phone, so excuse the format! I added a picture, but I'm not sure where it will go! Let's see if this works!
